Odense Women

Mie Højlund has spent her career scoring for a club that was founded in 2009, and she now stands as its all-time top scorer in the EHF Champions League. That competition record says something about how fast Odense Håndbold moved once it found its footing: the club took shape in August 2009, stepping into GOG Svendborg TGI's place in the Danish top flight after GOG ran into financial trouble, and it changed name twice more before settling on Odense Håndbold in 2016.

The championships did not arrive until the 2020s, and then they came in a rush — titles in 2021, 2022 and 2025, with runner-up finishes filling most of the years in between. The Danish Cup and Super Cup followed the same pattern, won in short bursts rather than spread evenly across the decade. In 2025 the club reached further than before, taking the EHF Champions League final to Győri ETO KC and losing 30–27.

Kamilla Larsen played for the club from its first season in 2009 until 2022, long enough to link the breakaway years to the trophy years. Jakob Vestergaard now coaches a squad with Højlund wearing the captain's armband.

The fiercest matches are against Viborg HK, a rivalry Danish handball treats as its biggest, the two sides having met repeatedly in championship finals; games against Team Esbjerg carry a similar weight and get called the eternal rivalry in the same breath. The European final is the one result still missing from the run — Odense have reached it, but not yet won it.
