Lånlet Arena seats 1,300 for handball, part of a wider hall in Nykøbing Falster that can hold up to 3,000 depending on the event, and it is here that NFH built a team good enough to reach a European final.

The club was founded in 2009 and plays in yellow and blue. Growth from a provincial handball side into a fixture of the Kvindeligaen came fast: within eight years NFH had won the Danish Championship, in 2017, adding the Super Cup the same year and the Danish Cup the year after. Two runner-up finishes in the league followed, in 2024 and 2026, along with Cup final defeats in 2020 and 2023.

The clearest measure of how far NFH travelled came in Europe. A run to the EHF Cup semi-finals in 2017 gave way to Champions League football the following season, and by 2023 the club was contesting the final of the EHF European League, losing but leaving with a continental pedigree few Danish sides outside Copenhagen can claim.

Kristina Kristiansen has carried much of that European story on her own scoresheet, finishing as the club's all-time top scorer in continental competition before announcing she will retire after the 2026–27 season.
