Regatas Bella Vista

Cancha Alfredo Walker sits on Avenida Francia in Bella Vista. The building started with an oar rather than a ball: on 14 February 1895, a group of former Buenos Aires Rowing Club members led by Enrique Goubat set up a club to row on the local waters, and rugby came later.

The senior side reached its high point in 2002, when it played through to the final of the URBA Top 12 and lost there to San Isidro Club. Relegation followed in 2011, but Regatas did not stay down: the following year it beat San Albano 20–15 in the promotion playoff and returned at once to the top division.

Santiago Cordero came through those ranks to win 56 caps for Los Pumas, first capped in 2012 and back in the squad in 2025, and his brother Facundo followed him into the national set-up before taking his game to Exeter Chiefs and Glasgow Warriors.

None of it moves far from where it began — a stretch of water in Bella Vista, and a handful of rowers who wanted a club of their own.
