Atl. Del Rosario

Rosario grew up around the railway, and the club followed the same track: British workers on the Central Argentine Railway put it together on 27 March 1867, first as a cricket club. Atlético del Rosario sat among the founders of the Argentine Rugby Union in 1899.

Two of its five URBA Top 12 titles came in 1905 and 1906, within a few years of the national union's founding; the third arrived in 1935, and the game then left Atlético del Rosario out of the reckoning for six decades before a fourth title in 1996, shared with Hindú, and a fifth in 2000.

José Orengo won 37 caps and played two World Cups for Argentina, in 1999 and 2003; Federico Todeschini was part of the squad that took the Pumas to third place at the 2007 World Cup. Mario Gerosa took a different route entirely, earning seven caps for Italy and playing at the 1995 tournament.

The ground has outlasted every one of those campaigns. Plaza Jewell has hosted the club since 1889, making it the oldest sports field in Argentina, and its 4,000 capacity has never needed to grow to keep up with what happens on it. The nickname the city uses for the club is simply the ground's own name: Plaza.
