Sirius

Promotion came in 2016, when Sirius won the Superettan and returned to the Allsvenskan after 42 years away. Three years earlier they had taken Division 1 Norra without losing a match. Neither title was the club's first climb — the first came in 1968, in the middle of a decade paid for by Owe Bergström, who brought players across from Djurgårdens IF and got Sirius into the top flight for the first time since the football section began playing under that name in 1908. A second spell followed in 1973 and 1974, with Roland Grip and Hans Nilsson in the side. Then the divisions fell away, and the 1980s and 1990s were spent in financial trouble.

The parent sports club was founded in the Svartbäcken district of Uppsala on 9 August 1907, and the football side arrived a year later, having already been IK Spurt and IK Svartbäcken before it settled. Blue and black vertical stripes at home; the all-white change kit goes back to the 1960s.

The oldest silverware sits well before any of that — four straight regional Distriktsmästerskapet titles from 1914 to 1917, and a run to the 1924 final of the Svenska Mästerskapet, the national championship that preceded the Allsvenskan, lost to Fässbergs IF.

Since the return to the top division the club has worked to a model of developing young players and selling them on, with Robbie Ure and Isak Bjerkebo among the recent graduates. Andreas Engelmark is head coach. The local derby is with Enköpings SK; the meetings with AIK and Djurgården carry the residue of old transfers.
