The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium sits on the edge of Dar es Salaam, and it is there, in front of crowds that can run to 60,000, that Yanga play their home fixtures.
The club was founded on 11 February 1935 as New Young, before settling on the name Dar es Salaam Young Africans SC — Young Africans, or Yanga. It has since become the most decorated side in Tanzanian football.
Beyond Tanzania, 2023 marked the club's furthest run in continental competition: a first appearance in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
