Cardiff Met cruise past Ammanford in six-goal rout
Cardiff Met made light work of Ammanford at home on Sunday, running out 5-0 winners in the Premier League Regular Season. The visitors were never really challenged and took all three points with minutes to spare. And here's the thing — you could see the gap in class from the first whistle, if you bothered to watch properly.
McKenzie opened the scoring in the ninth minute, a neat finish that set the tone for what followed. Bell picked up a yellow card twelve minutes in for a clumsy challenge, and then Rowe went to ground shortly after. By then Ammanford were already on the back foot, and the situation turned ugly when Rowe was shown red in the thirty-fourth minute. Ten men against eleven, and the math wasn't kind.
Payne doubled the lead before the break, slotting in twice in the space of a minute — forty-two and forty-three — to make it 3-0. Ammanford tried to get back into it but never got out of second gear against a side that was playing with confidence. The substitution board came alive in the second half, Cardiff bringing on fresh legs while Ammanford simply tried to survive.
Snaith made it four in the sixty-first minute and added a couple more himself — seventy and seventy-nine — to complete his hat-trick. The substitutions continued on both sides: L. Davies, Orme, Craven, Delaney, Evans, Mwandwe, A. Davies, Griffiths — a parade of bodies as Cardiff looked to keep the tempo up. They held their nerve and didn't let up even when the result was never in doubt.
The statistics told the story without embellishment. Cardiff dominated possession at sixty per cent, registered 115 attacks to Ammanford's 65, and put thirteen shots on target against just one off target for the hosts. Shots off target were barely worth mentioning — four for Cardiff, two for Ammanford. The game was decided long before the final whistle, and the numbers simply confirmed what the eye had already seen.
Ammanford remain rooted to twelfth on three points from six games, three draws and three defeats. Cardiff move up to seventh with ten points, three wins and two losses, though they've shown they can be vulnerable — that 5-0 defeat at New Saints still sits in memory. To be fair, this was a different proposition entirely. Six goals scored, one conceded across two halves, and a performance that suggests Cardiff Met have found their rhythm at the right time of season.
