Konyspor and Rizesspor met in the opening round of the Süper Lig season at the Konyspor Büyükşehir Belediyesi Stadium on Friday evening. Rizesspor took all three points with a 1-0 victory, decided by a late penalty kick.
The match remained goalless until the dying moments. Qazim Laci stepped up in the 90th minute plus seven and converted from the spot to secure the win for the visitors. It was a decisive blow after a contest where neither side could find the net in open play.
Konyspor dominated possession and territory but struggled to create clear opportunities. They registered 44 per cent of the ball and generated 0.62 expected goals, while Rizesspor controlled the game more effectively with 56 per cent possession and 1.52 expected goals. The hosts had more shots overall but the visitors were sharper when it mattered.
Rizesspor also created more danger, recording two big chances compared to Konyspor's one. Their attackers were more active in the final third, completing 113 passes into the opposition half against 43 for the hosts. The penalty came after sustained pressure rather than a moment of brilliance.
Konyspor remain winless after four matches, sitting 18th in the table with zero points. Rizesspor move to ninth place with six points from three games. The visitors have won twice in their last three outings, while the hosts have lost four consecutive matches.
