Two years later the same club, by then known simply as the Lions, beat HC Karlovarsko to defend the title and added the Czech Cup in the same season.

The club traces back to 1991, set up under the banner of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, and spent most of the following two decades under university-linked names — Volleyball.cz ČZU Praha, then Volley Team ČZU Praha — before Tomáš Janeček arrived as patron in 2018 and the side was reborn as VK Lvi Praha.

Dukla Liberec has grown into the rivalry that matters most, and HC Karlovarsko, playing under its old name of VK ČEZ Brno, was the opponent in both of the club's Extraliga finals. Nikola Mihajlović and Pablo Crer have carried the side's international contingent.

Matches are split between the UNYP Arena in Prague-Libeň and the far smaller Sportcentrum Suchdol, still bearing the ČZU name, a reminder of where the club started. A women's team, Lvice, competes in the Extraliga under the same colours.

The Cup title defended in 2025/2026 was not matched domestically: the Lions finished that Extraliga season as runners-up.
