The Eimsbütteler Turnverband split into men's and women's sections under the ETV Volleys name. The parent body dates to 1889.

Bundesliga Nord across the 1993/94, 2001/02, 2022/23 and 2024/25 seasons and finishing 11th of thirteen most recently. They play in front of a few hundred people at the ETV Sporthalle Hoheluft.

The women's team, known through its sponsor as ETV Hamburger Volksbank Volleys, reached the Volleyball-Bundesliga for 2025/26 without earning it on the court — they finished sixth in the 2. Bundesliga Pro the year before and went up instead through a league expansion that came with a two-season relegation shield. It is still the first time a Hamburg club has played in the women's top flight since VT Hamburg dropped out around 2015. Hannah Ammerman , an American outside hitter, is the only player on the roster with a professional contract under coach Markus Friedrich.

What the club has never done, in either the men's or the women's game, is win a German championship or the DVV-Pokal.
