Hoechst AG, the chemical group, put up the money in 1983: housing in Liederbach, meals in Höchst, an apprenticeship alongside training, and a boarding operation known simply as Volleyball-Internat Hoechst. Players who came through it joined the senior side of OSC Höchst; in 1986/87 that team finished second in the 2. Bundesliga Süd and missed promotion by a place. When Hoechst AG withdrew its sponsorship in 1991/92, the boarding arrangement lost its funding but not its purpose, and the club carried on as Volleyball-Internat Frankfurt until a 2020 rename made it VC Juniors Frankfurt.

The senior team sits in the 2. Bundesliga now, without a German championship or cup to its name. The Deutscher Volleyball-Verband recognises it as a federal training centre, and its youth sides have gone further than the first team ever has: bronze at the Under-18 European Championship four times over, silver in 2008, and gold in 2018. Tobias Krick is the clearest return on that investment — a product of the programme who went on to win silver with the German national team in 2017 after spells at United Volleys Frankfurt and Berlin Recycling Volleys.

Matches are played at the Wintersporthalle, a 600-seat hall on the Otto-Fleck-Schneise, in the club's black, red and white. It is a small enough venue that the Hessen-Derby against TuS Kriftel, and the fixture with SSG Langen, still carry the weight of local bragging rights rather than league standing.
