Nurmo has been part of Seinäjoki since 2009, yet the name on the volleyball team's shirts is still Nurmon Jymy. The team grew out of a multi-sport society founded on 5 May 1925. It is known simply as Jymy, or JymyVolley when the talk is of the top-flight side.

That side got to the top through the second division. Jymy won the 1-sarja in 2016–17 and took a place in the Mestaruusliiga, the top division of Finnish women's volleyball, for the following season. In the years since, the senior women have not won a title or a medal there.

The club's trophies come from further down the age scale. Its B-girls became Finnish champions in 2014, and the C-girls did the same in 2021–22. An N35 side of women aged 35 and over has won a silver medal.

In blue and white, Jymy take the court at Nurmohalli, formally Nurmon Liikuntahalli, a hall built for 1,500 spectators.
