Trofaiach sits under the Erzberg, the ore mountain that gave the region its living, and the nickname Erzbergmadln carries that straight onto the volleyball court. The club grew out of a joint venture between Eisenerz and Trofaiach, a Spielgemeinschaft that formalised the partnership in 1997, and it has changed its name more than once since — Erzbergmadln Trofaiach Eisenerz is what stands on the shirts now.

Promotion to the Austrian Volley League came in 2002/03, and a CEV Cup campaign followed in 2006/07. No league title and no cup have gone to Trofaiach, but the 2025/26 season took the club further than it had been before: a first semi-final appearance in the Austrian League. The Austrian Cup has been kinder in smaller doses, with third-place finishes in 2022/23 and again in 2025/26.

Julia Mitter captains the side, and the fixture that matters most is the Styrian Derby against UVC Holding Graz, the Panther-Girls — a meeting that draws in TSV Sparkasse Hartberg too when the calendar allows. Blue and black are the colours, and Sporthalle Trofaiach the usual home, though Sporthalle Eisenerz still hosts matches as a reminder of where the partnership began.

Six hundred is what the Sporthalle Trofaiach holds when it is full.
