BFC Daugavpils

In April 2015, BFC Daugavpils went further in the Latvian Cup than it ever had before or since. No Cup ever followed, and no Virsliga title either.

The club started life on 11 December 2009 as Biedrība Futbola Centrs Daugava, a name it carried until a 2014 rebrand made it BFC Daugavpils. What it has managed instead of Virsliga silverware are two Latvian First League titles, in 2013 and 2018, each one a promotion won rather than a trophy kept. Home matches are played at the Esplanādes stadions, also known as the Daugavpils Olympic Centre, a ground that holds 700. Daugavpils sits far enough from Riga that its main rivals are found in the table rather than in the capital.

The player most associated with the club is Vladimirs Kamešs, capped 43 times for Latvia with three international goals, who joined in 2019 after spells in Russia at Amkar, Yenisey and SKA-Khabarovsk and in Poland with Pogoń Szczecin.
