Cipriano Núñez was still on the bench in December 2024 when Ancud lifted the Copa Chile, the first national trophy the club had managed since its refounding. The team that took the court that night traced back to 2010, when Deportes Ancud folded under debt and the Asociación de Básquetbol Ancud picked up where it left off, entering the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol the following season.

The domestic breakthrough came earlier and more locally: back-to-back Libsur regional titles in 2012 and 2013 established Ancud as the team to beat on Chiloé island, before Copa Chile gave that regional pedigree a national trophy to match.

Home games are played in front of 2,500 at a ground renamed in late 2024 for Luis "Caco" Suárez. Across the island stands Deportes Castro, and the Clásico Chilote between the two draws the kind of crowd a regular league fixture does not.

The Celestes nickname reflects the sky-blue shirts, worn alongside blue, white and black. On the floor, Sebastián "Chapa" Suárez remains the name most associated with the club's rise from regional outfit to national contender.
