The Artland Arena holds 3,000 people.

The promotion itself came off the back of winning the 2. Basketball Bundesliga North that year, and the Dragons spent the following decade holding their own in the top flight, reaching the BBL Playoffs quarter-finals repeatedly and the semi-finals in 2011 and 2012. The high point came either side of that run: runners-up in the 2007 BBL Final, beaten by Brose Baskets Bamberg, and then, a year later, winning the German Cup outright, beating ENB Würzburg/Ludwigsburg 74–60 in the final. Locally, the fixture that matters most is against SC Rasta Vechta, close enough in distance to be known simply as the small derby.

The man tied to that 2007–2008 stretch is Chris Fleming, who arrived at the club as a player in 1994 and later took over as head coach in 2000, staying in the job for eight years and taking the team to both the Cup final defeat and the Cup win that followed it. Isaiah Hartenstein passed through Quakenbrück on his way to the NBA, but it is Fleming's name that stays attached to the club's best years on the bench.
