BK Kosice Wolves

Wolves step into the Tipos SBL for the first time this season, the top flight of Slovak basketball having never previously seen them on its schedule. The route there ran through the 1. Liga play-offs of 2024–2025, where Košice beat NEXTGEN Slovakia to earn promotion — the only silverware the club holds.

The club was registered as an association in Košice on 21 March 2018, meaning the step up came inside its first decade of existence. The bench for this debut campaign belongs to the Finn Pieti Poikola, who arrives from BKM Lučenec to manage a squad with next to no Extraliga history of its own.

Point guard Adam Monček is the exception: already experienced at this level, he was the player Wolves leaned on through the promotion run. Elsewhere the roster leans young and partly foreign — the American David Early, out of Tennessee Tech, plays inside, and the Czech forward Filip Halada joined from SK Slavia Praha over the summer. The oldest man in the squad is centre Michal Baťka, 39, a veteran presence in a club not yet out of its teens.

Wolves have no fixed rival to measure themselves against; this season simply puts them in the same table as Patrioti Levice and BC Slovan Bratislava, sides with a far longer top-flight past. Home games are played at Športová hala Stará jazdiareň, a ground that holds 846.
