Nitra Blue Wings

Nitra Blue Wings won bronze in the Tipos SBL, the Slovak Extraliga, in their first season. They finished third in 2024/25 after losing in the semifinals. Krunoslav Krajnovič was coach, and the imports Kobe Langley, Charles O'Bannon Jr. and Miryne Thomas played alongside Slovak national team centre Michael Fusek and academy graduates such as Andrej Náhlik.

The owner, Miroslav Gál, had said from the start that the club would concentrate on developing young Slovak players.

The following summer the roster was rebuilt. Nikola Birač took over on the bench, Jordan Jones, Dru Nickson and Guy Ragland Jr. arrived as imports, and Fusek was the one player kept from the medal-winning side. The result was the same. In 2026 Nitra finished third again, and they also reached the Final Four of the Czech-Slovak Cup that season. Martin Blaho, a Slovak who is both general manager and head coach, has been confirmed as coach for the seasons ahead.

Home games at the Mestská športová hala, which seats 1,500, carry an extra edge when SPU Nitra come to town. The city calls the fixture the "Nitrianske derby".

The club was registered in June 2024 as a new entity, separate from the earlier teams in the city. It still acknowledges that history, above all BK Bemaco SPU Nitra, who played in the EuroChallenge in 2011/12.
