BK Svit

The most recent trophy in Svit is the Slovak Basketball Cup of 2023, the fifth in the club's cabinet, won by a side that plays in a hall of 670 seats, Iskra Aréna. The first came in 1998, and the others followed in 2001, 2005 and 2014. The league title is a single one, from 2003.

The bigger story is older. Cyril Bursu started a basketball section at AC Svit in 1947, and the club then went through the names of its factory sponsor: Iskra from 1957, Chemosvit from 1979, and Iskra again since 2010. In 1961 it won the Czechoslovak championship and reached the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague.

Rudolf Vraniak ties the eras together. He played for the club from 1955 to 1971, so his career covers that title season. He later came back as coach and led the team to a Czechoslovak silver medal in 1985. He is a Hall of Famer. Anton Gavel came through the youth academy and went on to play for Bayern Munich.

The club has also been forced to move. Between 2008 and 2010 problems with the facilities sent the team to Poprad, where it played as BK Chemosvit Poprad. It returned to Svit in 2010 and took back the Iskra name in the same year.

Its rival is Spišskí Rytieri, and the meetings between the two are known as the "Derby na Spiši".
