Cividale Eagles

Stefano Pillastrini has coached Cividale since the first season, and the club he took charge of had been set up by its president, Davide Micalich. The Eagles took shape in July 2020 in a town of the Friuli region. Two years later they beat Vigevano in the promotion playoffs and went up from Serie B to Serie A2, where they have stayed.

The team's name and its nickname, Le Aquile, point back to Aquileia, whose eagle is the old emblem of the area. The colours are yellow and blue.

Pillastrini's work shows most clearly in the young Italians who came through under him. Leonardo Marangon was named the best Under-21 player in Serie A2 in 2023/24 and then committed to Providence College in the NCAA. The next season the same award went to Francesco Ferrari, who moved on to Virtus Bologna in the top flight.

2025 brought the club's biggest trophy so far, the Supercoppa LNP Serie A2. The Eagles also reached the final of the Coppa Italia LNP Serie A2 that year and finished as runners-up. They have won the Memorial Mauro Frandoli twice, in 2024 and 2026, and the PalaGesteco, with its 2,934 seats, was renovated in the summer of 2024.

Ask who the club is, and the answer in Cividale is still Pillastrini, the coach who has been on the bench for every season.
