Esgueira

Esgueira's basketball began in a music society. The first players belonged to a section of the Recreio Musical Esgueirense, which later moved to the Casa do Povo de Esgueira. In that form the section could not enter the Portuguese Basketball Federation's championships, so a separate basketball club was formally set up on 8 November 1956 for that purpose. Its full name, Clube do Povo de Esgueira, is the one on the hall today.

The hall came 27 years after the club. It was inaugurated on 19 March 1983 and holds 1,000 spectators, which suits a club from a parish of Aveiro.

Fixtures often carry the sponsored name Esgueira/OLI. The home kit is green with yellow side stripes, and the away kit is white with green stripes. The mascot is Bikudo, a viking.

The club's first title of note came in 2012-13, when it won the northern zone of the CNB1 (the national second division) and earned a meeting with Atlético for the national CNB1 title. The second came in 2021-22, in the Proliga. Esgueira met Galomar in the final, and the game went to overtime. Esgueira won 65-60, and the win secured promotion to the top tier.
