Helios VS Women

In the 2011 final of the top-flight women's league, Helios lost 88-84 to Elfic Fribourg. That gave them six consecutive Swiss championships, from 2012 to 2017. In the same stretch they won the Swiss Cup five years running, starting in 2011.

Vétroz is a village in Valais, and the club began there in June 1973. Players from Vétroz and neighbouring Conthey founded it, and Michel Huser has been president throughout. The women's side came in the 1980s, encouraged by Sheldon Parker. It spent years below the top division: the NLB Women title in 2003 was won in the second tier.

The Fribourg contests were the national rivalry. The one closer to home is the derby valaisan against BBC Troistorrents-Chablais, played in the same canton.

The league titles brought a run of imports and internationals. Brittanny Dinkins, Maria Villarroel, Simona Šoda and the Senegalese international Ndeye Khady Dieng are among those who played in Vétroz. The club has also sent players on. Ainhoa Holzer came through the youth set-up, Helios VS Basket Espoirs, and moved to the Christ the King Royals in New York.

The most recent silverware is the NLB Women title of 2021, the club's second in that division. The team plays at the Salle du College des Creusets, which holds 2,000.
