Saint-Quentin is in the Aisne, in the Hauts-de-France region. Union sportive des Cheminots, the railway workers' team, merged with Amicale Jumentier on 21 May 1973 to form what became SQBB. A second merger, with Foyer laïque d'Harly in 1982, rounded out the club as it stands today.
SQBB reached the top division, Pro A, in 1988 and stayed five seasons before financial trouble sent it back down. The return to the elite finally came in 2023, when SQBB won the Pro B championship exactly thirty years after leaving the top flight.
