When Alexander Svitov beat Atlant Moscow Oblast's goaltender in game four of the 2011 Gagarin Cup final, he settled a series Salavat Yulaev won 4–1 and handed Ufa the only league championship the club has managed in the professional era. It remains the single trophy the "Green Machine" points to when the conversation turns to titles, even though the run to it included an earlier Russian Superleague crown in 2007–08 and back-to-back regular-season Continental Cups the two seasons after.

Getting back to that level has proved harder than winning it once. Since 2011 the club has reached the Eastern Conference finals five times — in 2014, 2016, 2019 and again in 2025 — and lost every one of them, a run that says as much about the depth of the Eastern Conference as about Ufa's own squad building.

None of that history explains why the club's academy is spoken of the way it is elsewhere in hockey. Andrei Vasilevskiy came through the Ufa system before winning the Stanley Cup and the Vezina Trophy in North America, and Kirill Kaprizov followed a similar path out before becoming one of the NHL's most watched forwards. The club has not let that generation be forgotten quietly: Rodion Amirov, who died in 2023, had his number 27 retired rather than reissued.

Games against Ak Bars Kazan carry their own name, the Green Derby, and little else on the calendar draws the same tension in Ufa. Salavat Yulaev now plays those and every other home fixture at Ufa-Arena, a venue built for the sport rather than adapted to it, in front of a capacity of 8,522.
