Traiskirchen Lions

Traiskirchen's fiercest rivalry is with the Klosterneuburg Dukes, now BK IMMOunited Dukes.

Father Friedrich Tscherney founded it on 24 October 1966 as UKJ Möllersdorf, short for Union Katholische Jugend Möllersdorf. In 1983 the top team moved to Traiskirchen by merging with Landis & Gyr Mödling and became UBMT. The merger let it go straight from the state league into the Austrian A-League. The partnership with Tribuswinkel ended in 1990.

The cup was won in 1997 under the name UB Möllersdorf, and again in 2000 and 2001 as UBM Traiskirchen. The club has also lost five cup finals, the latest in 2016–17. In 1999/2000 it took the Traiskirchen Lions name.

Renaldo O'Neal was the star of the 1980s and 1990s and scored more than 1,000 points in the 1985–86 season. Benedikt Danek captained the side for years and later coached it. Two players moved on to bigger stages: Nemanja Bjelica began his professional career here in 2007, and Jakob Pöltl spent 2013–14 with the Lions before going to the NBA.

Since 1999/2000 the team has played in the Lions Dome, a 950-seat hall in Traiskirchen. Its sponsor's name, druck.at, is attached to it. The Arkadia shopping centre once gave the club its name in the same way.
