When Monting, the club also known as Montmontaža and Industromontaža, ceased operations in 2009 for financial reasons, Zagreb lost a women's basketball name that had won three Yugoslav league titles and the Ronchetti Cup in 1980. Trešnjevka 2009 was set up on 5 March that year to carry that tradition on. The club still points to the 1980 Ronchetti Cup as the international honour it inherited.

The new club took its colours, green, white and red, from the Trešnjevka district and the Croatian flag. Supporters call the team the Greens.

The club has built its results on its youth academy, whose teams have won titles in every age group from under-13 to under-19 in recent years. Ivana Dojkić came through it and won a WNBA championship with New York Liberty in 2024. Nika Mühl, who went on to Seattle Storm, is another graduate.

At senior level, Trešnjevka won the Croatian Cup in 2022 and again in 2025. In the league it has come second three years running, in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Matches against Medveščak, the Zagreb Derby, are among the city rivalries. The other local opponent is ŽKK Zagreb.

Home games are played in Hall 2 of Dom Sportova, which has 3,100 fixed seats and can hold 3,900 with temporary stands.

In 2025 the club changed its name to ŽKK Trešnjevka Dinamo Ltd. It plays in the WABA League and the EuroCup Women this 2025–26 season under captain Nika Rodek. After three runners-up finishes in a row, the league title remains the honour it has yet to win.
