The **Premijer Liga Women** (Premijer ženska košarkaška liga) stands as the highest tier of professional women’s basketball in Croatia. Established in 1991, shortly after the nation gained independence from Yugoslavia, it operates under the authority of the Croatian Basketball Federation. The competition occupies the summit of the national pyramid, feeding into the broader structure of Croatian sport.

The season unfolds through a regular phase where eight clubs engage in a double round-robin format, meeting each other both home and away. Following this period, the top four sides progress to the knockout stage. These teams contest semifinals played as best-of-three series, with the winners meeting in another best-of-three final to claim the championship title.

Losing points in the regular standings carry tangible consequences. The team finishing at the bottom of the table faces immediate relegation to the Prva ženska liga. Meanwhile, the side placing seventh enters a two-legged playoff against the victor of the lower league to decide the final place in the top flight for the coming campaign.

In terms of historic dominance, ŽKK Gospić holds the record for most titles with eight victories. Croatia Zagreb and ŽKK Medveščak follow closely, each having secured five championships. The most recent honour belongs to ŽKK Brod na Savi, who captured their first title in the 2025/26 season.
