About the player
He debuted for the first team in February 2014 and signed his first professional contract that May, and by the end of the decade he had two Swiss Super League titles to show for it, in 2017–18 and 2018–19. He left in September 2019, cutting his contract short after losing his place under coach Gerardo Seoane, and moved on a free transfer to Perth Glory in Australia's A-League, where he made 18 league appearances.
Over six years at SK Sturm Graz he made 131 league appearances and scored 10 goals, and he had a hand in ending Red Bull Salzburg's decade of domestic dominance: his header in the 69th minute against SK Austria Klagenfurt in May 2024 sealed the Austrian Bundesliga and ÖFB Cup double. Between those two moments he suffered a serious knee injury in September 2024, in Sturm Graz's first-ever Champions League match, against Stade Brest, which kept him out for around two months.
His form in Austria earned him a first senior call-up to Switzerland, and he made his debut as a substitute against Denmark in the Nations League in September 2024.
