Loris Benito

Loris Benito started out at his hometown club, FC Aarau, before a move to FC Zürich brought him his first major honour, the Swiss Cup, in the 2013–14 season. At S.L. Benfica he won the Primeira Liga, the Taça da Liga and the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in a single season, 2014–15, while also turning out for the club's reserve side.

Benito returned to Switzerland with BSC Young Boys, where his performances in 2018–19 saw him named to the Swiss Super League's Team of the Year and voted Sportsperson of the Year in his home canton of Aargau. His contract expiry the following summer took him to France, where he joined Girondins de Bordeaux on a free transfer. He left Bordeaux in January 2022 for FC Sion, making 13 appearances before a return to Young Boys that summer, in a deal reported to be close to one million Swiss francs.

His international career began relatively late: Benito made his senior debut for Switzerland in a friendly against Qatar in November 2018. He has since earned 13 caps, scoring his first goal for the national side in a friendly against Croatia in October 2020. He was part of the Swiss squad at UEFA Euro 2020, where the team reached the quarter-finals, and featured in the group-stage match against Turkey.
