About the player
Sandro Lauper grew up playing for FC Konolfingen before Young Boys' academy took him on at the age of ten. He left in January 2015 to continue his development at FC Thun, first with the U21 side before breaking into the senior team the following year.
That path back to Young Boys came in July 2018, when the club paid €1.5 million to bring him home. It proved a lasting decision on both sides: his contract has since been extended to run until 2027, and Lauper has become part of a Young Boys side that has dominated Swiss football, winning five Super League titles and two Swiss Cups during his time at the club.
International recognition at senior level has not followed. Lauper's caps have come at underage level only, with two appearances for Switzerland's U20 side and seven for the U21s, and he has yet to earn a call-up to the full national team.
