Matthew Dennis

Matthew Dennis began the 2025–26 season with five goals in his first six matches for Notts County, which earned him the EFL League Two Player of the Month award for August.

It was a return to form after a few years in which his career kept stalling. Dennis came through the Arsenal academy, where he spent 12 years, and joined Norwich City on a free transfer in July 2020. He never played for the first team there, but a loan at Southend United in 2021–22 gave him his first senior football: eight goals in 30 appearances and the club's Player of the Month award for January 2022.

He moved to Milton Keynes Dons that June for an undisclosed fee, but his time there was interrupted by loans and injuries. He spent the second half of 2022–23 at Sutton United, and later a spell at Rochdale. After pre-season injuries ahead of 2023–24, head coach Graham Alexander criticised his fitness. Dennis did have a good weekend that March, scoring twice in a 3–1 win over Crewe Alexandra. His contract was ended by mutual consent in February 2025.

The Carlisle United spell that followed was short and productive. On a short-term deal he scored six goals in 14 appearances and finished as the club's top scorer for that period. He turned down a new contract as Carlisle faced relegation to non-League football.

After his season at Notts County, Dennis signed a three-year deal with Burton Albion in July 2026 for an undisclosed fee.
