About the player
Merchas Doski started at Heesseler SV before a season at MTV Eintracht Celle. He rebuilt his career at 1. FC Slovácko in the Czech First League, joining as a free agent and staying with the club until his contract expired in January 2025.
That expiry opened the door to a bigger move. Viktoria Plzeň announced his signing in December 2024, and the transfer became effective on 1 January 2025, on a free deal. Plzeň tied him down with a contract running to 30 June 2029.
Doski made his senior debut for Iraq in 2022 and has since become a regular in the squad, taking in the 2023 and 2024 AFC Asian Cups. His breakthrough moment on the international stage came in a friendly against Spain, which finished 1–1, when he scored his first senior goal for Iraq. He went on to be named in Iraq's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the side did not get past the group stage, though Doski himself stood out defensively, recording the highest average number of successful tackles of any player in the tournament.
