About the player
Adu made his name at Bechem United, where he scored ten goals in 31 appearances before a move abroad took him first to Belarus. At Isloch Minsk Raion he scored six goals in 14 league matches in the 2023 season on a free transfer, form that earned him a place in the Belarusian Premier League Team of the Round.
He moved on again that September, joining Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih on a four-year contract. There he made 15 appearances and scored three goals as the club finished bronze medallists in the 2023/24 Ukrainian Premier League. The following August, Plzeň paid around €700,000 for him, and he signed a three-year deal at the Czech club.
Adu had already drawn attention before any of those moves: The Guardian named him among its "Next Generation 2020" talents. His international career came later — he made his debut for Ghana's senior side in 2025, going on to earn eight caps, and was named in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
