Shaun Daniel McWilliams

Shaun McWilliams is a product of the Northampton Town academy, and it was there that he built his career. Across his time with the club he made more than 200 senior appearances and scored six league goals, a run that included a loan spell in his youth at King's Lynn Town, where he scored seven goals in 26 appearances in the Southern League Premier Division.

The high points at Northampton came in two promotions five years apart. He was part of the squad that won the League Two play-off final in 2020, beaten Exeter City 4–0 to go up to League One, though he did not see it out on the pitch — he was stretchered off injured in December 2019. He returned to play a key role when Northampton went up automatically to League One in the 2022–23 season, scoring three league goals that campaign. In October 2023 he reached 200 appearances for the club he had come through as a boy.

McWilliams left on a free transfer in July 2024, signing a two-year deal with Rotherham United. He made 50 league appearances for the club and scored twice before his contract expired in 2026, after which he signed for Cheltenham Town, again on a free transfer. He has not been capped at any level for England.
