About the player
Theo Sander became the youngest goalkeeper in Danish Superliga history when he made his debut for AaB against Randers on 28 August 2022, aged 17. He had come through the AaB academy after joining in 2017, having started out at Frem Skørping, Støvring and Gug Boldklub.
His first appearance came on 18 August 2023, when he replaced the injured Kamil Grabara against Hvidovre. He kept a clean sheet in a 2–0 win. Knee surgery late that year interrupted his time in the capital.
In February 2025 he went to Hvidovre for the rest of the 2024–25 season and played 13 matches.
Sander has played for Denmark at every youth level from under-16 to under-21. He was named in the preliminary squad for the 2024 European Championship, but he has not yet won a senior cap.
In June 2026 he left Copenhagen for Sweden. IF Elfsborg signed him on a contract running to 2030, for a reported €400,000.
