Sandviken IF

Bertil Ericsson scored four goals against Denmark in a single afternoon in 1934. His 132 goals in Allsvenskan still stand as the club record. The club spent 21 seasons there between 1929/30 and 1961, taking bronze in 1935, 1937 and 1956 and silver in 1936. A cup final followed in 1970, lost 0–2 to Åtvidaberg.

The players still wear red shirts with white sleeves, the pattern behind the nickname Rödvästarna. Between 2018 and 2021 the club moved back to that older arena before returning to Jernvallen.

Locally, the fixture that matters is against Sandvikens AIK, sharpened over years of District Championship finals between the two; Gefle IF, from across Gästrikland, is treated as the bigger regional rival. In 2025, the club's annual meeting settled a long-running question about its own age, restoring 1899 as the founding year — the date two predecessor clubs merged, before Sandviken IF folded in 1908 and was revived under the same name in 1918. Records had used 1918 in the meantime.

Promotion out of Division 1 Norra in 2023 put the club back in Superettan, the second tier. Allsvenskan, absent since 1961, remains further off.
