About

The Women's Caribbean Premier League, officially branded as the Massy Women's Caribbean Premier League following sponsorship by the Massy Group, launched in 2022. Organised by CPL Media in partnership with Cricket West Indies (CWI), the tournament operates as a franchise-based Twenty20 competition outside the official domestic pyramid. Unlike the CWI Regional Women's Twenty20 Championship and the Super50 Cup, the league functions independently with no promotion or relegation structure.

The competition currently features three franchises: Barbados Royals Women, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women, and Trinbago Knight Riders Women. The schedule follows a double round-robin group stage where each side plays every opponent twice, culminating in a single final match. Barbados Royals Women have established dominance, securing three consecutive titles in 2023, 2024, and 2025. They defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors by three wickets in the 2025 final, which took place in Guyana. The Trinbago Knight Riders Women claimed the inaugural championship in 2022.

While the commercial partner Massy Group has secured its name rights, the structural integrity of the league remains distinct from the men's equivalent. The men's competition hosts six franchises, whereas the women's tier has maintained three teams since inception. A fourth franchise, Jamaica Express, is scheduled to enter the competition for the 2026 season. Notably, Barbados Royals Women have announced a rebrand to Barbados Tridents for that same upcoming campaign. The tournament runs concurrently with the men's series, frequently utilising double-headers to maximise audience exposure. The format ensures a compact season, with each team contesting seven matches in total before the decisive knockout stage.
