Copa America Femenina 2025/26

Copa América Femenina is the premier senior women's football competition in South America, organized by the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL). It serves as the female equivalent of the men's tournament and sits above youth categories such as the U-20 and U-17 championships. All ten member associations participate automatically without preliminary qualification rounds, a structure that distinguishes it from competitions requiring qualifiers in other confederations. The event began in 1991 in Brazil, with the final stages played in São Paulo and Campinas. After a history of irregular scheduling, the competition was restructured in 2020 to become a biennial event starting in 2025. The 2025 edition utilized a format of two groups of five teams playing a round-robin, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals. Brazil stands as the dominant force, having won nine titles since the tournament's inception. Argentina won the competition once in 2006. The 2025 final concluded with Brazil defeating Colombia 5-4 on penalties after a 4-4 draw. Marta scored a crucial late equalizer during that match. The tournament serves as a direct qualifier for the FIFA Women's World Cup and the Olympic Games. Although CONMEBOL introduced a separate Nations League for World Cup qualification starting in 2024, the Copa América remains the primary continental championship. Notable records include Cristiane from Brazil as the all-time top scorer with 29 goals. Roseli from Brazil scored 16 goals in the 1998 edition.
