League Cup (Chile) 2026/27

The **Copa Chile** stands as the primary knockout football cup competition in Chile, organized by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP). Unlike the league, which determines the national champion through a round-robin format, this tournament serves as the main domestic cup, sitting below the Primera División in prestige. Its defining characteristic is its open-entry nature, historically allowing teams from the Primera División, Primera B, and lower divisions to compete against each other, creating opportunities for upsets by lower-tier clubs. The current structure involves 32 teams: all 16 clubs from the top-tier Primera División and all 16 from the second-tier Primera B. These participants are divided into eight geographical groups of four, where they play a round-robin within their group. The top two sides from each group advance to a knockout phase consisting of the Round of 16, Quarter-finals, and Semi-finals, all contested as two-legged ties involving home and away matches. The Final is played as a single match at a neutral venue. Winning the competition grants qualification for the Copa Sudamericana and the Supercopa de Chile. If the winner is already qualified for the Copa Libertadores via the league standings, the runner-up takes the Sudamericana berth. Colo-Colo remains the most successful club with 14 titles, followed by Universidad de Chile with six and Universidad Católica with four. The current holder is Huachipato, who claimed their first title in 2025 by defeating Deportes Limache on penalties. Historical shifts include the suspension of the tournament between 1963 and 1973 and its rebranding as 'Copa Polla Gol' from 1979 to 1986 due to a state-run betting pool. The format evolved from pure knockout to include group stages starting in 2013–2014.

The Supercopa de Chile, introduced in 2013, is a separate single-match competition between the League Champion and the Copa Chile winner, though it expanded to a four-team knockout format in 2026.
