CSKA secured a commanding 4:1 victory over Rubin Kazan in the Women's Higher League, moving further clear at the top of the table after seventeen rounds. The hosts took all three points on Friday evening, with their attacking efficiency proving decisive against a side that had been difficult to break down.
Damjanovic opened the scoring in the twelfth minute, before adding her second from the spot in the thirty-third. Two minutes later Rubin lost their composure, collecting three yellow cards in quick succession through Ermakova, Manuilova and Barvinok. By then the match had taken on a different complexion.
Rubin pulled one back when Trofimova converted a penalty in the seventy-third minute, but CSKA responded immediately. Nikolic found the net in the seventy-eighth, and the visitors were left chasing shadows for the remainder of the contest.
Petrova added a late consolation for Rubin in the ninetieth minute, but the damage had long been done. Both teams made heavy substitutions in the second half, with CSKA bringing on Ulyanina, Shuppo, Achoyan and Nurmieva, while Rubin introduced Morozova, Kishmakhova and Voskobovich.
CSKA dominated the territorial battle, registering five corners to Rubin's two. Each side received two yellow cards, and there were no dismissals to complicate matters further.
The result leaves CSKA firmly in second place with forty points from sixteen games, their record of thirteen wins, one draw and two defeats putting them in pole position. Rubin remain eighth on nineteen points, their four wins, seven draws and five losses showing a side that has found no answer against the league's better sides.
