Corona Kielce secured a 2:0 victory over Wisła Płock in the sixth round of the Ekstraklasa on 28 August at the Orlen Arena. The away side took control through two second-half goals and moved clear of the relegation zone. Płock remain rooted to 16th place with four points from five matches.
Martyn Stepinski opened the scoring in the 49th minute after a quiet first half. The home side had created three big chances but could not find the net. Dion Gallapeni picked up a yellow card on the hour mark as tensions rose. Kielce brought on Morgan Fassbender in the 85th minute to seal the result.
By then the visitors had already made their move. Martin Remacle came on for Kielce in the 76th minute, adding fresh legs to a side that had kept their shape throughout. Płock replaced Gallapeni with Hamulic at the same time, seeking more width. The exchanges continued through the final twenty minutes with no further drama.
Płock dominated possession at 58 per cent but their shots lacked bite. They registered 16 attempts inside the penalty area with only four on target, a 22 per cent accuracy rate. Kielce were more efficient, hitting 40 per cent of their shots on target from just seven inside the box. The hosts also had ten corners to show for their territorial advantage.
The result leaves Kielce eight points from five games in eighth place, while Płock sit on four wins from five outings. The visitors ended a run of draws with this win, whereas the home side have now lost three of their last five league matches. And here's the thing — the gap between them is not just in the table.
