About the player
Emiliano Clavijo joined the Universidad Católica academy in Quito at the age of 13, working his way up through every youth category, from the Sub-16 side to the reserve team, before making his first-team debut in 2017. Ecuador remains the through-line of his career: he has stayed with the club he grew up in, leaving briefly and returning to Universidad Católica in 2021.
Clavijo plays as an attacking midfielder or forward, and his season came to define the club's history. Universidad Católica won the Copa Ecuador in 2025, its first trophy, beating Liga de Quito 3-2 in the final. Clavijo wore the captain's armband that night, though he came on from the bench rather than starting the match.
He has been mentioned in Ecuador's Sub-23 set-up but has not yet earned a senior call-up.
