Eric Valencia

Eric Valencia came through the Independiente del Valle academy, but by the time he left the club in 2021 no confirmed first-team debut date, no goals or assists logged for his spell there. Two years at La Unión, then a move to the United States in March 2023 to join San Antonio FC, again as a free agent. Detailed statistics from either stop have not surfaced in public databases.

The left-footed defender returned home in January 2025, signing for Universidad Católica on a free transfer. 20 league appearances in 2025 without a goal or assist, followed by a heavier workload in 2026 that has brought him a goal and two assists across another 20 league matches, plus outings in the Supercopa de Ecuador and the Copa Libertadores.

Universidad Católica won the 2025 Copa Ecuador, beating LDU Quito 3–2 in the final on 18 December 2025, with Valencia part of the squad. in the 2026 Supercopa de Ecuador final, Universidad Católica lost 0–3 to Independiente del Valle, the club where his career began. Across all competitions for Universidad Católica he has now made 43 league appearances, two cup matches and one Libertadores appearance.

He has yet to receive a call-up to the Ecuador national team. Worth noting: another Ecuadorian footballer shares his name but was born in 1996, a separate player entirely.
