Some goalkeepers wait years for a shirt at their parent club; Gabriel Brazão has spent most of his career finding out what football looks like elsewhere. Since leaving Cruzeiro for Internazionale, the Brazilian has been loaned out again and again — to Albacete and Oviedo in Spain, then to SPAL and Parma in Italy — a run of moves that has made him better known abroad through temporary shirts than through settled first-team football.

The clearest sign of what he can do came early. In 2017, still a teenager, Brazão was named the best goalkeeper of the Under-17 World Cup, taking home the Golden Glove at a tournament that put him on the radar of European clubs well before he had established himself in Brazil's top flight. That promise is part of what took him to Inter Milan, even as the path from there ran through loan spells rather than the San Siro.

More recently, the numbers have caught up with the reputation. In 2025, Brazão topped the world rankings for saves, with 94 stops putting him ahead of goalkeepers with far more prominent club profiles — a statistic that says more about his workload and reflexes than about where his teams have finished.

Now at Santos, wearing number 77, Brazão arrives with a career built on contrast: standout individual form, both as a junior international and by save counts, set against a club history defined by loans rather than a settled home. Right-footed and standing 192cm, he fits the modern profile clubs look for between the posts. What he does with a settled run of games at Santos remains to be seen.
