Ignacio Sosa

Ignacio Sosa came through the CAFénix academy in Montevideo and made his mark early, earning recognition as the best newcomer of the 2021 Uruguayan championship season after breaking into the first team. He went on to make 47 appearances for the club, scoring once, before a move that split his registration three ways: in July 2023 he joined Peñarol under a co-ownership arrangement, with Peñarol holding 50 per cent, CAFénix 30 per cent and the player himself the remaining 20 per cent.

At Peñarol, Sosa became a regular, appearing 76 times and contributing two goals and an assist. He collected a string of honours there, winning both the Apertura and Clausura in the 2024 Uruguayan championship, as well as the Torneo Intermedio and the Uruguayan Cup in 2025.

His performances with Uruguay's under-20 side matched that trajectory. Sosa played 39 matches for the age-group national team, scoring twice, and was part of the squad that won the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina in 2023. He has not yet featured for the senior national team.

In August 2025, Sosa completed a move to Brazil, joining RB Bragantino. The transfer, reportedly worth 3.5 million dollars plus up to 500,000 in add-ons, ties him to the club until the end of 2030. He was formally presented by Bragantino in late December.
