About the player
Cauê arrived at Corinthians in 2019 through a route the club has taken with several of its academy graduates: he was picked up from Clube Atlético Santacruzense to strengthen the under-15 squad and worked his way through the ranks, becoming the first-choice goalkeeper of the under-20 side in 2021. That same year he was called up to Brazil's under-17 squad ahead of the South American Championship, and in 2022 he featured for Brazil's under-20 team, winning the Torneio Internacional do Espírito Santo.
The setback that shaped his path came at the end of 2023, when he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury kept him out for the whole of 2024, and he only returned to action in August that year. The recovery meant patience rather than progress, with his development on hold while his rivals for the goalkeeper's shirt moved ahead of him in the queue.
That queue opened up in 2025, when injuries to Corinthians' senior goalkeepers pushed Cauê into the first team. He took his chance and held on to it, becoming the club's regular goalkeeper for the season. Corinthians went on to win both the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil that year, with Cauê established between the posts. The club rewarded him with a contract extension running to the end of 2029, tying the 21-year-old to Corinthians for the medium term.
