Mateo Acosta

Two days after signing his first professional contract, Mateo Acosta was on the pitch for Montevideo Wanderers. The contract was dated 11 October 2024; the senior debut came on 13 October, against River Plate of Montevideo.

Everything before that had happened inside the same club. Acosta came up through the Wanderers youth academy and moved into the first team without a spell anywhere else. He is the only club on his record.

He plays as a defender and wears the number 14 shirt. His deal with Wanderers runs to 31 December 2026.

In December 2024 came the one call-up outside club football. Acosta was named in the Selección del Medio Local, the squad drawn from players in the Uruguayan domestic league, and came off the bench in a friendly against Grêmio on 5 December. The match does not count as an official senior cap, and he has yet to earn one for Uruguay. There is no record of him appearing for the country's U-20 or U-17 sides.

He has not won a team title, and no individual award has come his way so far.
