Nahuel Furtado

In June 2024, Martín Lasarte walked up to Nahuel Furtado after a match and asked whether he would be interested in joining Nacional. Furtado's contract at Cerro Largo was due to expire that December. Lasarte later said he had done no more than ask the question, and that no formal negotiations had been opened. Furtado said Cerro Largo's president, Ernesto Dehl, was interested in negotiating a move at the time. He stayed at Cerro Largo until November.

He came through the youth set-up at Cerro and made his first-team debut on 30 March 2019, against Nacional. He remained at the club until early 2021, then joined Atenas that March and played 14 matches there. A move to Progreso followed in February 2022: 25 appearances and his first two senior goals.

Cerro Largo, which he joined in January 2023, became the longest stay of his career so far — close to two years. In January 2025 he signed for Defensor Sporting, where he scored once across the season, and in January 2026 he moved to Montevideo Wanderers. Every one of those transfers was a free.

Furtado is a right-footed defender who has spent most of his career at right-back. He has not won a league title or a Copa Uruguay, has collected no individual awards, and has yet to be capped by Uruguay at senior level.
