Athletico PR U20

Curitiba had two clubs, International Football Club and América Futebol Clube, before they merged in 1924 to form Club Athletico Paranaense — and it is that senior club's academy, not a separate institution, that fields the U20 side. The colours it inherited, red and black in diagonal stripes, gave the club its nickname, Furacão, and the same shirt has been worn by every age group since.

The youth setup has done more than feed the first team. It has won the Copa do Brasil Sub-15 and the Copa do Brasil Sub-17, and reached finals at Sub-20 level in the Campeonato Brasileiro and in the Copa do Brasil, along with a runner-up finish in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. What the academy is best known for, though, is what it has sent upward.

Whether the U20s play at Arena da Baixada or on training pitches depends on the fixture, but the ground holds 42,372 — a reminder of the scale the academy is built to eventually fill.
