Atl. Andahuaylas Women

The ground in Andahuaylas belongs to two teams. Municipal Los Chankas, a 10,000-seat municipal stadium in the Apurímac highlands, is the home of the men's side Deportivo Los Chankas, and it is also where the women of Atlético Andahuaylas played. There is no other first-division club in the region, so there is no derby to fill it.

The club reached that stage by finishing second in the Liga de Ascenso Femenina in 2025, which was enough for promotion. It is not the women's section of the men's club that shares its pitch, but a separate outfit, one that had been playing in the regional Copa Perú Femenina since at least 2022.

The debut season, in 2026, went better than promotion usually does. Andahuaylas finished second in the Apertura and second in the Clausura, and second again on the combined table: 39 points from 16 matches, one behind Universitario and one ahead of Alianza Lima. Only one game was lost all season.

Marleni Cárdenas scored in the club's first match in the top division and again in the Apertura semi-final, which Sporting Cristal won. By the time the Clausura started, the squad had changed shape. Amparo Chuquival, a left-back who had played for the Peru national team, arrived from Alianza Lima, and Stefany Otiñano came in with Universitario, Sporting Cristal, Brazil and Greece behind her. Miguel Granados resigned in April.

They are known as the Guerreras Chankas, after the warrior women of the Chanka people of the region, and the local press calls them the white team. The name and the stadium point the same way: in a region that until this season had no team in the first division at all.
